skipping a dance class level?

Anyone taken ballet at 'SC?
I've done one-class-a-week soft-shoe-only ballet since I turned 4. I am assuming this is probably enough experience to do okay in Ballet B since Ballet A looks targeted for beginners. Anyone care to verify or denounce this assumption?

Do people often skip ahead to the next level? Is there even a way to do so before classes commence?

I'm interested about this too as I am planning to minor in Dance at SC. Would anyone care to describe how a dance classes work? :)

I know that skipping levels can be done, but I don't know how to do it. You should contact the theater department. Beginning dance classes at SC really are geared toward beginners.

D was also a ballet dancer (when she was younger). She made it to pointe shoes; however, gymnastics took over and she no longer had any time for ballet. She registered for ballet A (knowing it would be easy) and will wait and see how that class goes. If it's too easy she will likely switch over to ballet B (left that time frame open in her schedule just in case). I do know she spoke to some individuals who have taken ballet A and they said it was super easy. Good luck. D thinks she will minor in dance too. :)

well anyone else who's with me, i'm registered for the T-Th ballet A and trying to transfer to T-Th Ballet b. so if we just go the first day of classes we can ask the teacher how to transfer, maybe even attend the first session of both classes...?

oh, and anyone who has taken ballet at 'SC, i'd like to know... what do most people wear for class and should we be dressed/expect to dance on the first day?

D just bought the typical ballet pint (footless) tights, shoes, and a black leo. I don't think you can go wrong with that. D also said she saw people wearing just about everything last year.

i watched a b class and the attire is VERY informal

ETA: but then again, you could say i'm an SAB snob ;-)
