I skipped second grade because of my mathematical abilities (wasnt transfer etc). Will adcoms notice this or care? Im currently 16 and will remain so for my senior year. I just want to know whether this could be atleast a minor factor in admission.

Very unlikely. This is a VERY common issue. My D also skipped a grade in elementary school and is 16. In her graduating class of 67, there are 6 students who skipped an earlier grade.

It won't make any difference. Besides a lot of times people are younger for reasons unrelated to skipping a grade (for example if you were born in country X and everyone started school a year earlier than they do in country Y and then you moved to country Y or the same thing for different states).

I think it might even be more of a negative than a positive. Yes, it is sort of like an award, but it also makes us look younger and less mature.

I'd be willing to guess that adcoms don't even look at birthdates....unless the applicant has been out of school for awhile.

sorry, but, what about skipping 8th grade?

adcoms focus on transcript, test scores, recs, EC's, and any special talent. They just don't have time nor care what you did in elementary/middle school, unless you took Calculus in 8th grade.

Haha, there was an eighth grader taking Calculus BC at my school last year!

My situation's a lil' crazy since I'm graduating a year early from high school (I've taken all my classes at the local community college where they have trimesters rather than semesters). Dartmouth said it's no big deal, so I'm sure most schools won't mind that you skipped a grade in elementary school!
