Skipping a test and taking it the next year

I took a Computer Science class this year but I had to skip the AP test because I was on a different continent. I am a rising Senior so when I take the test next year it will be after I have already been accepted at colleges. I want to major in Computer Science so this isn't exactly an ideal situation....

So my question is this: will this situation be easy to explain to colleges or will they look down on it? Keep in mind, I was too busy doing something that they love to see (globetrotting) to take the test. I got a 95 in the class.

Thanks.

I think they’ll be curious to know why you scheduled your globetrotting in the middle of AP tests, which are ALWAYS in early May.

It is VERY bad to take an AP course and not go through with the test. So bad, that it’s better to get a 2 on an AP test than skip out on it.

I also heard that colleges don’t like people trying to explain away academic stuff, so I do not think it will be easy for you to explain this, whatever you were doing instead of taking the test. Your globetrotting should provide good stuff for an essay though, if you’re careful not to get cliche.
