So I am in french two this year, and I'm a sophomore. The language program at my school is relatively weak (only offers french and spanish) and the classes are far too easy of the 23 people in my french class, I believe 13 ended up with 100 averages last year it's pathetic.

I am very interested in french, and would like to eventually take the AP French exam. The problem is, my high school does not offer AP french, and our french 4 class is equivalent to a french 2-3 class at other schools. Therefore, I don't think I'd be at all prepared

Here's my thought:
Find some way to learn all of the Fr3 material this summer (starting this spring), possibly Fr4 too if possible, then skip to Fr4 junior year. Then, senior year, I could have an indep study class to prepare for the AP French exam properly, or possible an online course.

So my question is, HOW DO I LEARN 1-2 YEARS OF FRENCH WELL OVER THE SUMMER? CAN I STUDY IT WELL ENOUGH ALONE, OR DO I ENROLL IN A PROGRAM? ARE THERE ANY AFFORDABLE PROGRAMS TO LEARN FRENCH IN FRANCE, OR SOMETHING OF THE SORT?

I studied French IV the summer after my freshman year so I would be able to take AP French my junior year.

It’s not that hard, you don’t need a class. Listen to French radio, read French books (out loud), practice grammar/vocab over and over. It’s definitely possible. :]

Hey! I was in the same position as you over the summer!

I’m a soph as well, and I was in Spanish 2, French 1 my freshman year. I wanted to be in French 3, Spanish 3 at the same time, so I talked to the French teachers about it, they talked to the principal, school district, etc. to see if they’d allow me. It was a pretty big deal I guess.

They allowed it, and my French teacher gave me the French 2 book to study over the summer. My parents decided it’d be good to have someone to check in with to make sure I was getting everything right, so we decided to hold a meeting between one of the French teachers and me every other week. It worked out really well!

This year I’m in French 3 and Spanish 3, and don’t feel too far behind!

The most successful way to learn and memorize words and grammar is by using it daily. So my advice is to find French-speaking non-pedophiles online haha
