So just a quick question, does binghamton require that you take the biology intro courses if you are majoring in it and get a 5 on the AP bio exam? From my understanding you can skip them, but is it recommended? I know that intro courses are often large and are gpa killers and it would save time to avoid them. Is it still manageable to be a bio major with just high school bio? Thanks

My understanding is that a number students with AP credits struggle with Bing. intro biology because you’re expected to be able to apply concepts and not just regurgitate them. Also, AP coursework can have holes.

I would not recommend skipping intro bio.

I don’t think it is a GPA killer either. If you do the work, you will do fine especially with the curve. My son took honors bio as a HS sophomore (no AP) and has gotten solid As in the two Bing. intro bio courses this year because he worked hard.
