Skipping Languages?

Hey guys,
Well I have a question for my brother as he just started school yesterday. He is dyslexic and has a class where he gets study time with a teacher instead of a language. Like all the other kids in my family he wants to attend UVA but I'm a little worried for him. This question is a little more directed at Dean J, because you have knowledge but will his dyslexia hurt him? My parents are debating putting him in a langauge but are worried he won't do well. I know most colleges like to see languages and I'm worried colleges will think he's not capable of thier classes.
Any input on this would be very helpful.

Thank you for the help again guys.

P.S. I just went out for Indian food for the first time... If you never have tried it, TRY IT. I got this sauted yogart mango chicken. YUMMMMMM. Definitly going to eat Indian again.

My friend with dyslexia who did BA, MT, and now PhD at UVA had this problem. UVA has a language requirement. She went through the LNEC (learning needs center) and they got her out of her language requirement because of her dyslexia after she demonstrated that she would likely fail the course by taking it for a month or something like that. As far as admittance, I cannot vouch for that, but if all of the other grades are superb and there are classes making up for the time (ie advanced in other subjects) then that would make up for it, no?

As always, thanks for the post hazel. I’ll be sure to inform my brother that it’s not big deal (He’s pretty bummed right now).
