<p>There's a pep rally this Friday at my school; I want to skip it- I don't feel like spending an hour of my life in a loud, hot gym watching uninteresting stuff happen. They do them at the end of the day, and they don't take attendance at the end of the day after the pep rally. It seems like they WANT you to skip it, if you have a car.</p>
<p>I could probably just walk out of the school with my backpack and drive away when I'm supposed to be going to the gym for the rally, but my question is: Is this worth the risk? Does anyone have experience with this? Would a student like with no record be let off without real punishment if he got caught somehow? Do a ton of people skip pep rallies (as seniors, at least)? Do administrations generally not care about blowing off pep rallies?</p>
<p>Haha I would advise you not to purely because of the amount of concern and thought you’ve clearly put into it. You’ll be paranoid all night- IMO not worth it!</p>
<p>It honestly depends on your school’s policies. At my school, leaving the campus without permission is 3 day OSS suspension and they don’t care who you are. </p>
<p>You can’t really use the “good kid who has never done anything bad” excuse since you jut did something bad, know its bad, and did it anyways…A real “good kid” would know that kind of behavior wouldn’t fly. </p>
<p>I say go to a teachers classroom or the media center instead of the pep rally.</p>
<p>In reality though I REALLY need an adrenaline rush in my life. I’m so straight edge that it’s hilarious.</p>
<p>More than getting the hour back, I want to go Assassin’s Creed and Crowd Blend (my backpack will stick out, will have to hide it) before exiting my social stealth to sneak out the door and stab my target (my car, with my keys). Lol.</p>
<p>Okay umm…not the best reference. Do you think the repercussions are worth the adrenaline/fear. And I doubt in high school people are gonna go “Oh, well you did something that was obviously premeditated. But since you’ve got a 3.8 GPA and are ranked #5, we’ll let it slide”</p>
<p>And a lot of bad things happen when you’re at the wrong place at the wrong time.</p>
<p>Rachel- Yeah, but my school went super weak on us, you need to physically bring Doctor’s notes, etc if you try to say that you have an appointment. I want to say that I have a headache and the pep rally will make it unbearable or something, but my mom will never let me do that. Sigh. 17 and I have to worry about what my mom thinks.</p>

<p>Really? It’s just a pep rally. The whole point is trying to build school spirit. Go and participate, because it’s people who act like they’re too good for pep rallies that are the cause of schools with such low morale nowadays. It’s one of the few times in high school that you can hang with your friends and do silly stuff. Really, just go participate.</p>
<p>Geez, CC is really uptight. If you want to skip it, skip it. It’ll be easy enough to skip it (trust me, I have multiple times), and if you somehow get caught, have something thought out (an excuse). Just because he’s skipping a pep rally doesn’t mean he’s a bad person.</p>
<p>Pep Rally is the easiest thing to skip in the world. And it has no worth to you at all. Personally, me and my friends skipped it every time and walked to Taco Bell and ate (we were such badasses it’s ridiculous). </p>
<p>And I love Assassin’s Creed as much as the other guy (probably more than the other guy) but I really don’t think you should try to assassinate one of your teachers. You might stain your clothes! </p>
<p>And no, I’m not part of the “bad crew” in school…I’m just less uptight than your typical nerd :D.</p>
<p>If you want to skip it, don’t drive off. You’ll get caught that way. Find a bathroom or classroom or something to hang out in. Otherwise just go.</p>
<p>Here’s an idea: When you’re released to go to the pep rally, take a detour outside to the parking lot (nobody will care, at least at my school you’re allowed to get stuff out of your car). See if other people are leaving, and then make your decision. I have a friend who skipped a lot of school last year by just getting in his car and driving off, and I had two free periods last year (extremely rare, not generally allowed) and left early every day. Nobody knew my situation except for a couple of my teachers, and nobody questioned me including the school cop or any of the principals.</p>
<p>Moral of the story: don’t worry so much, tons of people skip pep rallies.</p>
<p>Edit: Out of curiosity TickGrey, how does your school catch people driving off? Maybe it’s just because my school only has one cop but it’s not monitored at all here lol.</p>
<p>If there’s a will, there’s a way. Last year I had something urgent come up and couldn’t go to the pep rally. They personally escort us class by class down to the gym, and me and my neon orange polka dot dress slipped into the library undetected. Even the sourpuss librarian didn’t care that I was in there.</p>
<p>I mean, yeah, in hindsight it wasn’t crucial to hit the pep rally, now I kind of wish I had gone. But technically I should’ve been suspended for doing that and every other time I ditched x-block (95% of the time to do studious things, mind you), but I wasn’t now, was I? Nobody ever is.</p>
<p>tl;dr: be a rebel, but pick your battles wisely.</p>
<p>My brother skipped all of the pep rallies when he was in high school and was never caught xD. If you are going to worry about it a lot after skipping though, I don’t think it would be worth it.</p>
