What the heck - my Prom is during AP exam week..and I don't have a date for that matter.
I guess I'm just the apex of geekdom :) Can't let it get in the way of my academics nor do do I have a suitable date! heheh.
Who's with me?!

You’ll remember senior prom a lot longer than you’ll remember your grade on an AP test. Just saying.

Edit: Or maybe you won’t remember prom depending on the activities you engage in. If you think you’re that kind of person, maybe studying is the better option for you.

Why would they put it in AP exam week??
Your geekdom is admirable, but I also say go to prom. Just study for your AP exams early this year.

If you’re a senior, go to prom. If you’re a Junior, up to you I guess.

wow…ur prom is early mate. my question for you is, how many AP exams are you taking? if its only one or two, i would skip it…but if it’s more than that i would reccomend taking the exams. Prom is important…i’m not a bright kid, with only an 87 gpa, and a 1500 on my sats. i dont even know where im going to go to college at this point. and neither do i have a suitable date. i would go to prom just for the heck of it. it sounds like a depressing idea to go alone while everyone else has a date. but as of now, i am planning to go alone…not even with friends. i have very few friends lol. but yeah, just do it lol

Who knows - the kids that plan it aren’t all that academic
I’m starting my AP prep sometime this week or next week, though. I don’t have a dress for Prom. I went to Prom last year and had to find out ways to not stand around and be awkward. Though it was fun to get the
response from people. I was also on Prom Committee (though I forgot my sash
) so that was exciting too.
They planned it the Saturday before the Sunday which kicks off AP week…or something like that.
I’m pretty sure a 5 in Bio would be epic and a 4 in Lit similarly so…but yeah.
Nobody’s with me?! ![]()
And I’m taking 4 APs and will have 4 required AP exams to take by my county.

No, go to prom. The memories will last longer than your score on a test. And you’re already in college.

Do you really think that if you don’t go, you’ll be studying for AP Exams on THAT particular saturday night at that particular time? I’m thinking no.

And seriously, who the heck studies for AP Exams…

I don’t really understand the question. Are you saying that the Prom is at the same time as the AP exams? I could understand the conflict if it was since obviously you could either do one or the other. If that’s the case, then I would take the AP exams not because Prom is not important but because it could save you money in college. If you’re just worried about getting a few extra hours of studying – I doubt that a few hours will make a difference so I would go to Prom in that case.

No question just a rally cry…which is sorta failing. ![]()
But, yeah, I study for AP exams. It’s a little thing called sub-50% pass rate in each of my AP classes at school. ![]()
I’m not worried about studying, I’m just sayin’…highschool isn’t all it’s cracked up to be! Though I’m thoroughly enjoying senior year in that I’m looking for college things and getting prepared for the next step, Prom isn’t a huge deal to me.
Uhh…so nobody’s with me? xD Bummer.

Think of it this way: how much will you learn in the few hours you’ll be at prom? Probably not much. Plus fun and relaxation is good for the brain!

lol I love fun and relaxation. I go to the gym about 3 times a week for an hour each and love it. I enjoy hanging out with friends, going on walks with my puppy, etc. But c’mon now. There isn’t a single soul on CC with an ickyish highschool experience such as mine? And who is OK with not going to Prom?? NOBODY’S JOINING ME D:

haha im okay with not going to prom! i kinda dont have a choice. i need to save money :[ a few of my college friends want to take me clubbing that month anyways since i’m turning 18 so i guess that’ll make up for it.
in my opinion though, if your not going only cause you have to study for AP tests and cause you dont have a date then i still think you should go lol. lots of people go stag and its just 1 night of not studying.

Wow, this is a fabulous excuse. I’m with you.

No, you’re not alone. I didn’t go to prom last year and am definitely not going this year either. I’m all for having fun, but school dances are pretty much the farthest thing from fun in my point of view. XD I don’t think I’ll be studying for AP exams (my school’s prom is around that time too), but I will be having fun watching a movie/reading a book/playing video games or doing whatever else I end up doing that night. Just because some people feel like they’d miss out on something important if they didn’t go to prom, doesn’t mean everyone will. Besides, I’m looking to start forgetting my memories of high school, not make new ones. :p

I don’t think I will be going to mine. Not because of academics in the way, but because of my non-popularity =(

i hardly think attending prom would drastically cut out study time. if you want to go and there aren’t any conflicts, you should go if you want to.

i went to prom junior year; i didn’t find it at all LIFE ALTERING nor the BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE WHOOOE&(EYD like a lot of my other classmates apparently did. the dinner was really great though. i’m kind of hungry thinking about it. that was a really delicious dinner. anyway, i’m probably skipping prom this year because of how ridiculously expensive it is — too expensive to justify the fleeting feeling of drowning enormous chunks of parents’ wallets into awkward dancing and drunkenness.

Sorry to get all psychological on you and i apologize in advance if i come off as rude and obnoxious because i might. I think this topic was made because you don’t know what you’re doing for prom- you can very well study in advance for your AP exams and go to prom. I just read through some other posts and realized you said prom isn’t a big deal for you. I think a lot of people feel this way, so you’re not alone! Having said that, I think that going to prom, even if it’s just with a few friends would be really memorable for you. You can always skip prom and go down to the shore with your friends (not sure where you’re from but most people where i’m from drive down to the shore). Anyways, good luck with all the prom stuff and AP Exams!

If studying for AP tests is keeping you from going to prom, go to prom. If it’s something else that’s making you hesitant, and the AP tests are an excuse, that’s a different story.

Nah, I’ve decided this a while back. I did feel a twinge of guilt when my sister was picking out her dress though…that’s the fun part. But honestly, I know I’ll just be ignored and brushed aside at the dance, I’m not into dancing like a stripper, so I won’t get any partners  I’m not marketable that way. Hahh.
In terms of studying for AP exams…hell no! I probably will not be studying on Prom night because I should be nearly done with studying by that time…hopefully…heheh…I’m going to start that process soon and I’m a firm non-believer in cramming. It simply doesn’t work.
I’m kinda hinting at the fact that you need ~3 days of solid sleep to be non-sleep deprived for those testing days. So, yep. ![]()
I digress.
Thanks for the feedback! :)
