Skipping Semester to Intern -- classes in work city?

Hi all,
Brief question that I'm probably missing the obvious answer to:

I will be leaving my school for the spring semester to intern in a major US city. I would like to graduate at my current school, however. My school allows me to transfer in equivalent credits from other schools as long as they fit requirements, not too many, etc.

Generally, is it possible to take a single class at a university near my internship to then transfer that credit back to my home school? How do I approach the university near my internship? I assume that I would need to show them I met the course's pre-reqs at my home school.

Anyone else do something like this?

Thanks.

yea im in your boat. i want to a white house internship my second half of junior year ad should i take classes at American or something relatively easy (granted im coming to university with a semesters worth of credits) so should i just do internship and that is it?
