skipping to study

What are your thoughts on saying I'm sick for more study time? In my case, I have ap lang and ap us history tommorrow which the tests are done for and we're not doing much. I also have ap chem (and the test on wednesday for which i want to study). All we're doing in chem is going over our ap final mc part of which only about half the questions are ap level. It just makes more sense spending the day doing like 5 FR sections and studying rather than going over a mc test when my teacher sucks and confuses me anyway. I also have yet to pull an all nighter to study the day before a test and that seems kind of crazy to me. I think I can get a 4 on AP chem. Is skipping justified in this situation?

You could just go to school and not pay attention to teachers but instead, study what you want.

Or study after school/before school/during free periods. But it really depends on whether you think you know enough. If you think you really need the extra time, then go ahead and skip. These tests are more important than a day or two of school.

i did that for every one of my ap tests...i guess it helped.

ACTUALLY, I did just that this morning to study for Physics C; not a shred of guilt!

but my school has an "AP Roster" and anyone who's on it gets to slide a lot, esp. since only like 10% of my school takes them;

If you've got 10 EXAMS to study for like me, there's no time for silly things like school!

wow...like 3 responses minutes apart...

I thought about that but its just easier to stay focused at home. I'm not insanely worried and am sure i'll get a 3 but i really want a 4 and think i can get it at my present situation. Still, I want to review some stuff and overall feel more confident.

make that 5.

how about 7!!

oh, and just call in sick / dont show up if it's an afternoon test...too bad all my tests are morning tests except for physics today. although, i DO like morning tests much better...afternoon tests kill me into the evening...

i told my mom to call in to say i was tired...4 times...and it worked...stupid attendance office ladies.

lol I was considering it, but there's really no point...I'll have time to study AP Chem in AP Calc (1 pd) + AP Chem (2 pds) + APUSH (1 pd) + Physics (1 pd) + English (1 pd)= 3/4's of my day! if you factor in that'd I'd sleep till 9 am or so it's actually more productive to go to school!

haha, interesting. i considered doing this after seeing this thread, but i already missed two classes last week because of ap tests + other crap, plus i'm going to miss weds class FOR the ap chem exam and if i miss tomorrow too that's like 4 days of school... in a row.

i'll be missing physics, english and french which would suck, cause we have like 3 papers in eng due, a phys test on thursday and french project due friday...

man, i LOATHE school.

haha yes i've had doctor's and dentist's appointments all week. they must think i'm very sick...

I've been gone since 1 week before AP tests through the 1st week.. I went friday and today (monday) after bio and ush for 2 periods at the end of the day.. and practically just zoned.. Missing tomorrow and wednesday to study for econs which I am teaching myself, and thus missing all of thursday. So will have almost been 3 weeks for some of my classes.. haha good game for me :D

on the day before my APUS history test.I went to the beach with my painting class. The beach was very beautiful which also made me completely forget about study even though i brought my review book with me.

Haha only AP/IB losers like us skip school to study! Seriously, that's pretty rediculous when you think about it.

If I have a test coming up or a big paper due, I have no problems skipping. I mean, I usually try to go to school so I don't get behind in other subjects, but if it's really important, then I just skip and I don't bother justifying it. I know I'm a good student, and as long as I get good grades without cheating, then skipping is a non-issue.

I kinda skipped (have the spring cold, lol) today to study for chem. Last period is chem so only went to that class. Done with PR book! Yeah! Tomorrow just gonna study during the free periods. 4 free periods. physics is work and so is chemistry but I get chemistry class doesnt count as I will be studying for the test anyways. No skipping, parents will get suspicious :(

My parents never get suspicious about that kind of stuff...in fact, my mom is usually the first one to suggest it. Whenever I tell her I have a lot of work to do and I'm really stressed, she just tells me to stay home. I'd rather have a lenient parent like her than a strict one, but sometimes she doesn't understand that I just can't skip school whenever I want! That's why I only play hooky and stay home when I really, really need the extra time to study.

My parents are actually pretty open to me staying home and studying for SAT/APs but I hardly exercise that priviledge because I think if I have to skip a lot of school right before the exams it shows a major lack of preparation on my part leading up to the exams.

This year I skipped only one morning because I was really too tired to wake up =p

Also, I think skipping school to study for APs on the excuse that one is sick is very lame. I don't think I'd ever given a reason for skipping and no one has ever caught up with me. =)

You poor people my school gives us the day before any of our APs off. :)
