sky reach chicago...

I am 21 years old transfer applicant, and I would like to know what kind of chances i have at U chicago. I only have 3.2 from cc in chicago surburb (completed 50 credits). SAT which I have taken about 3 years ago scored 1100. I have been heavily participating in family business with significant results. My current choices are UIUC, loyola, GW, Syracuse. But I would like to stay in chicago area and would like to know if I have a bit of chance to go to U of chicago. If there is anyways please let me know. Any word of advice is welcomed.

Uchicago has extremely rigorous curriculum and you'll be competing against some of the smartest and hardworking students out there. If you can only pull a 3.2 at a CC... at Uchicago, your grades will drop even lower....
You should really think about how you would fit in at Uchicago.

It's not going to happen.

The other schools are more possible. I would suggest going to one of those (UIUC preferrably) and studying hard. Whether it be because of your involvement in the family business or something else, your grades are lacking and it seems you need time to develop better study skills if you want to excel at a top university. Chicago is considered arguably one of the most difficult schools around...

When I applied last year I've got into some other schools like GW, surprisingly UT-Austin, and UW-Madison. But for UIUC, I am lacking in credit hour requirements so I have some doubts. Syracuse doesn't seem to hard to get in. Last year GW offered me a significant financial aid. However, I am trying to find some colleges around chicago. So I have considered Uchicago despite the fact that it is both academically and selectivity wise stratch for me.

I as well am looking into Loyola and I might be able to assist you on this one. As you mentioned you have a 3.2 G.P.A. and the average G.P.A. at Loyola from a transfer student is 3.07 so your cutting it with a slight lead. Over 53% percent of Loyola Transfers come from CC. As you mentioned, you do I believe reside in Chicago correct? Similar to the Califonia CC system transfers, I believe Loyola as well focuses more on Illinois instate transfers. Yet, however your G.P.A. as you may already know may be a slight concern. Therefore I think University of Illinois - Chicago, Northeastern Illinois University or Roosevelt University might be a good fit for your. However if you manage to bring up that G.P.A. then go for Loyola. UC seems to be a far cry considering your stats at this moment. If your elligible for a fee waiver (for the application fee) go ahead and apply, if not save your money at this time.
