Slavic R5B vs. L&S 44 - please help

I need a class to fulfill the second half of the R&C requirement. I'm looking at eiterh Slavic R5B or L&S44. The Slavic class is 4 units and is only a lecture class.
The L&S class is 5 units and has a lecture and discussion. The good thing about it is that it fulfills the R&C requirement and a breadth requirement.

Does anyone know anything about these courses? Is the L&S class really hard since it's 5 units?
Thanks.

From what I have heard, L&S 44 requires a lot of reading. I don't know much about Slavic R5B. Hope it helps.

lns 44 didnt even make an effort to make the class sound interesting. the course description read like a textbook thats why i dint bother taking it

If you're interested in Greek and Roman culture, history, and literature (aka classics), then L and S 44 might be for you. It is supposed to have a lot of reading, and it beinf 5 units and not the usual 4 seems to reinforce that idea. There is also a second L and S44 (or something similar) that is offered each spring semester covering a period period after the Greek and Roman empires (or starting towards the end of the Roman Empire).

What about Comparative Literature R1b? Is that supposed to involve a lot of reading and writing?

Most r and c classes seem to have similar amounts of reading (although I would guess something like film would have less because you view many movies, although you do read some criticism), but l and s 44 is supposed to have more than average (and is 5 units in part because of this). It's supposed to be more advanced than the typical introductory course.
