whats it like? :)

on a bed if you're lucky

Sleep is usually a nocturnal animal but its closely related species, the nap, has been found at various points of the day, especially after lunch and in class. Its peak season is during winter break, but it tends to hide during finals week. Sleep is usually very elusive, but people have been successful in catching sleep during the weekends.

Any questions?

It is generally not done in college except during class hours.

its totally different, you wake up with girls in your bed, a maid, and all the beds are waterbeds! Oh ya and you get a cool foam pillow developed by NASA!

but on a more serious note your gonna get the ****tiest "bed" available, and depending on the thickness of your walls the first couple weeks could suck really bad. A lot of colleges give you beds where you can stack them like bunkbeds or have them separate which is cool. Most likely you will average 5 to 7 hours of sleep.

Because Roommates Suck

now would that be an average of 5-7 hours a night? or 5-7 hours a week?

I mean't 5-7 a night, I usually average 6 but I know some people like my roommate who survive on 4 or 5.

Schedule later classes. Regardless of when your classes are, you WILL go to bed around 1-3 daily. If you have class at 8, that's 4-7 hours of sleep...if you have class at all, that's up to 9 hours ;).

Except during finals, if I manage my time well, I can usually sleep 8-9 hours a night.

The beds are awful. Bring a really good foam mattress pad.

get the egg-carton style mattress pads (i think that's what they're called); those are a lifesaver

I get about 6 hours of sleep on average during the week. Then sleep in a little bit on the weekends if time permits.

Sleep is non-existent in college. That's just the cruel fact of college life.

My bed sucked... so I put an air matress over it and then two foam things over that. I now sleep amazingly well. I agree with the others who have said that no matter when your classes are, you'll go to bed between 1-3 am every day during the week. I had 8am classes, got up at 6 after going to bed around 2.... but then I came back from that 8am and took a 2-3 hour nap. Also, I'm a light sleeper so I have a water fountain in my room to mask the talking, TV, etc noises that go on at ALL hours of the night--- every night.

I have a foam pillow that they say was developed by NASA. :)

However as others have said, the total amount of sleep you get will go down in college. However you get used to it, and sooner or later will discover sleeps arch enemy. Coffee.

wow... do you guys have eyebags the size of garbage bags? jkjk :D.

what about catnaps? do you sleep in classes?

Depends on when your earliest class is really... I've gotten used to going to bed around the same time every week so the days I have my 8am are BAD.

Why do you guys go to bed so late? Getting more sleep is one of the things I am looking forward to in college

yeah, i was wondering the same thing. don't you guys get control over the time of your classes?

I get to bed by around 12 or 1 during the week usually since I got 8 AM classes.

jo. in one word: kinda. there's not THAT much flexibility in picking classes at good times. for example, if the chemistry class you need to take only has two sections, and one clashes with your math class, then you might get stuck in the 8:00 class...

**** happens.

i sleep between 1-3 am on weeknights, even when i have 8 am classes
