Sleeping bag visit!

Who all is going on a the sleeping bag weekend? Does anybody who has gone to one know what exactly you do?

I wish it was a SATURDAY night for obvious reasons

I’m going. :D

Sweeeet. We should organize something where all the CC’ers where like an orange shirt and jeans. Then some sort of signal to identify each other.

It would be WEIRD to see a CCer in person.

Is it too late to sign up? Dx

Nope. I did it like three hours ago

Is it admitted students only? Or can juniors go as well? I’m definitely signing up if it’s available for juniors. physicsdude, I think that’s a great idea - meeting other CC’ers, or a way to identify other CC’ers. I kinda like the orange shirt/jeans idea.

Oh bummer - It’s seniors only. I guess I have to wait a year! ):

I seem to remember them doing sleeping bag weekends at various times throughout the year, so you could always try during the fall, StotheK.

Are waitlisted students able to go? I haven’t checked out the campus yet, and since i would only have a day to decide if i got in, it would make sense to do it soon.

I’m a host for all the April SBW’s. Whoever stays with me is one lucky dude.

Can waitlisted students join in also? It would be great to visit CMU along with admitted students and seniors!

Yes, waitlisted students can sign up.

^I don’t think so…it wouldn’t be smart to spend $50 bucks to stay the night at a college you most likely go to…I’m not trying to be a prick (I’m in the same situation at UofChicago and WUSTL), I’m just saying. It would be awkward.
^^Do you live in a frat by chance?

@physicsdude While I am in a fraternity, I live in Mudge House, which is one of the nicest freshman dorms (in my personal opinion, the nicest).
@Breezy Yes, I do believe waitlisted students can sign up. EDIT: GRRRR BEATEN BY KATE

I’m debating whether or not I should attend one. Could someone tell me about their experiences with Sleeping Bag Weekend?

I can tell you what I typically do with my SBW students (usually my roommate and I each get one) when they come and stay.

First, we meet up and head back to Mudge. Then we introduce them to some decent looking girls and some other friends of mine (mostly to show them that there are in fact normal people at CMU). Then we go out to eat, generally with my other friends who have baggers and my roommate and his student. Then I grab friends who are relevant majors to my prospective’s interests and have them talk about why program X is awesome. I usually get baggers who are CS prospectives anyway though. If there is something particularly interesting going on that night we go to that (last time it was watching the Steelers win their way into the Super Bowl). They are on Sundays, so its not an action-filled evening.

This weekend is going to be awesome because its just two days after move-on, so all the booths will be under construction. I’m probably going to take my student to part of an all-night build session from like 1-3 in the morning. It’s a very uniquely CMU experience. Also there might be buggy push practice Sunday night (though IDK 'cause it is truck weekend)

Well, I dunno about tyralis, but I just tie up my baggers to the ceiling and then I invite all my sophomore friends over for a pinata party.

… In all seriousness, basically ditto what tyralis said. I get female baggers so I bring them to my creative writing classes (they’ve all been English/CW prospective majors). I also am an editor for the paper on Sunday nights, so I’ve brought them by the office before to get a feel for what clubs are like on campus. I live in Mudge too, but I live in the special interest housing block, so we have a living room they can stay in.

Are there SBW’s after April?

How did everybody like it?? I loved it. I met some really cool people and may have been part of the first baggers to ever paint the fence :)

Physicsdude-- were you in that large group that stayed at AEPi?

I heard about that - -some of my mudge cs friends are in that frat-- we were like-- how did baggers get into a frat?

Did they pick up a bunch of jewish guys or something like that?
