As of this school year, I cannot fall asleep early enough. I wake up around 7, so I try to go to bed around 11. But, because of my summer pattern, I end up staying up until 2 or 3. Any tips for fixing this?

pull an all nighter and pass out at like 8pm. However, if your school year has already started, do this on the weekend.

Go to bed 1 hour earlier each night for a week. Stay away from caffeine after 6 pm. When you sleep, try to have the lights off and no tv/ipod/computer on. Too many distractions are probably keeping you up.

Erm, gradually push back the time at which you go to bed? Wake up earlier to ensure that you'll be tired come the normal hour? Fatigue yourself (mentally and physically -- read a complex book while jogging, lol) right before your intended bedtime?

Teenagers tend to have unusual sleep cycles. Do your best to try to get into a regular rhythm. Sleep deprivation will not help you with your studies!

This was always a problem with my son in high school. He just wasn't tired at night, but then almost narcoleptic during the afternoon.

It has been proven that circadian rhythms are different in kids during their adolescent years, and that they would benefit from later school start times.

if you sleep at three, and wake up at 7, whats probably happening is your taking a nap or just not exerting yourself during school, so you can get by on that, or just sleeping through weekends. Just gradually push back time by fifteen minutes. AND DONT SLEEP IN ON WEEKENDS, that messes up schedule, just do 11-7 every single day, no matter what, your life will improve.

punch yourself in the head so you get knocked out from a concussion
but don't do it too hard or you'll end up with brain damage

don't drink energy drinks, either

Fatigue yourself ... right before your intended bedtime?

Actually, don't do this right before your intended bedtime, or your heart rate will be higher than normal and you'll still have trouble going to sleep. An hour or two before you want to go to sleep would be better.
Don't take a nap when you get home from school either, unless you're going for biphasic sleeping cycles [like me! :D]. They aren't bad, but if you're sleeping two large chunks of sleep per 24 hours, but still try to go to bed at a "decent hour" like 11, it's not gonna happen.
I go to sleep around 12 ish and wake up at 5:30. I get home around...anywhere from 2:45-3:30ish and pretty much immediately go to sleep for like 4 hours. But I like it. However, somehow my body's schedule is flexible enough that if I actually do need to not take a nap that day, I'm really not all that exhausted and can go right back to regular sleeping [one block of like ~7 hours].

BUUUUT I don't recommend that, so just try to get to sleep earlier :]

Awsome man!! a parent in the high school section. I am so moved to see a considerate mother !!!
