Slideroom/YouTube arts supplement question -- confused!

Hi,

My daughter is applying early to a school for which she'd like to include a dance video as an arts supplement. The school doesn't use Slideroom -- it only asks for a link to a video. But other schools she will apply to later do use Slideroom.

Time is running out, and she may not be able to edit the best video in time for the early application. She may want to re-edit it later into a better version for later applications.

First of all, how does Slideroom work? Is it like the Common App essay, in that you do one version for all the applications, or can you do multiple versions for different schools depending on deadlines, what you want to emphasize, etc.?

I've read that it doesn't download the video, but allows you to link to YouTube or whatever. If you do that, and then update your YouTube video later, after submitting the application, will that be okay or will the update not be visible? Or, worse, does that update somehow cancel out the link, and the reviewers wouldn't see anything?

Can she make the YouTube video private, since she only wants it visible to colleges?

I'm clearly not sure how this all works!

Thanks so much.

You can make the Youtube video Unlisted and then only people with a link to it can watch it.

So if she does that, and then uploads that link to Slideroom, and then subsequently re-edits the video, does the college see the newer version? Does Slideroom get a link to the Channel, for example, which we could update/improve later?

mnemom, did you get it figured out? My daughter is in the same boat. Putting something together for now and hoping to do a better job later :-)
