so i got on a flight and wasn't on CC for a few days and the previous thread i created went slightly haywire about patents. (and something else. i stopped skimming after page 7) To avoid confusion, i started a new thread! I e-mailed my advisor and she said that I wouldn't be able to sign up ahead of time to go over limits and what not. So I'll be doing that first week. just thought i'd let everyone know!

and moderators. can we elect to have a moderator or two for this forum? like, can we ask CC to give someone those rights? Some threads have been really going awry. If so, I think we should nominate some people. (i'm really thinking this is a job for shoebox, if she takes it.)

Off the top of my head, these are the people that currently go to UVa. (this is by no means comprehensive. These people are some of the more regular posters so they are the ones I remember.)

these are the UVa parents. (actually, just one UVA parent :))

HopefuHoo'sDad (aka HHD)

I'll start the nominations. Here's the format: Name (# of nominations)

Shoebox (1)
HHD (1)

P.S. Would anyone be up for a new thread that gives some basic info about themselves? (lke major, year, etc.) I think it'll help a lot of people esp, for major specific questions. There's stuff here and there about everyone but it'll be easier condensed. Just wanted to get some feedback before doing it.

Moderator Note: Thank you for your concern regarding the quality of the content here on cc. We, like you, do not like seeing threads go awry.

To my knowledge, the Administrators of cc do not take nominations for Moderators. However, I will pass these suggestions on to them. In the meantime, we recommend you use the Report Post function whenever you see a thread going awry. This is the primary means the the volunteer Moderators use, since we cannot be on all forums at all times.

Again, thank your for your interest in maintaining the forum.

gee, i’m flattered. But, I don’t think that would work too well seeming I’d have to become a mod for CC in it’s entirety, and I don’t see that happening.

I actually started a roster, a loong time ago (like, when dear little powderpuff was applying! so long ago). I’ve been thinking about digging it up too.

I’m not surprised about the adviser results. They’ll probably want to meet with you first and be like “are you suuurree?” and then give you the code.

yeah, I would gladly volunteer for the job had I ben around more the past year or so. I got out of coming here and there is a really good chance I’ll disappear for a while again randomly, lol.

Anyways I’m not sure how the whole thing works.

A sysop would never use the mop to level a dispute. In any case some people were ripping the old arguments about the rigour of business, polsci, liberal arts majors and what have you. Thought it pretty safe to complain about IP law since we were on IP law students. My misjudgment. Arguments are separate from character and I respect your character. Alas I cannot save mine.

Should I say, a sysop never uses the mop to level his or her own disputes. He or she steps in to moderate disputes that are not his or hers, of course. (Contrary to popular belief, I try my best to have a sense of integrity.)

db123 – are you sure you need special procedures to hit 18 credits? Because I just signed myself up for a Chem 181 Lab and unless I am hallucinating, 3.0 x 6 is 18 credits. Perhaps all that add/dropping made ISIS dizzy, I unintentionally found an exploit, or ISIS lets you violate the limit (to some extent) for dependent courses.

I would like it to be noted, for the record, that I did not take the bait on that delicious opportunity. Nevertheless, the temptation was enormous.

I may be borderline schizophrenic. I am not sure. Actually I may be a hypochondriac as well.

EDIT: Actually I was just blind to the fact that though it was 3.0 x 6, but having 3.0 listed at two places for the same lab does not mean six credits. Silly me.
