I'd appreciate some tips on what I need to improve on, I know there's a truck load of them.

If you want to be considered for FSU figure you'll need to score at least a 28 ACT or a 1220 SAT for Fall semester. Fall 2008 will be particularly competitive and even the scores I've listed may not be enough.

Get your GPA up. Take as rigorous an academic schedule as you can. Take as many AP courses as you can handle.

Note that the FSU College of Visual Arts and Design is extremely competitive in certain areas and may be considered a Limited Access major. Many majors in the FSU College of Business are also considered Limited Access.

A Limited Access program at FSU is one where students slots are limited and admission may be extremely competitive.

Accepted everywhere. You should aim at higher schools like UF instead of FSU. Good luck to where ever you go. Have fun at the college of your choice.

At FSU, being Hispanic may get you one point, but that's about it. Were you a Seminole Indian...well, that's a different story.

Get the courses, the scores and the grades. ;) There is no substitute for hard and diligent work.

Take a prep course for the SAT and the ACT. Retake the tests to better your scores. Start early, plan for enough time to retake the tests if you need to. Apply as soon as they accept applications - in August of the year before you plan to start, for example - apply August 2007 for Fall 2008 entry.

From what I've seen and heard about FSU, the middle ACT range is about a 23-27. A 28 would put the OP in the top quartile of standardized test scores. Only the OP's GPA is low. The rest of his or her profile is great.

Where do you live?Have you ever been to UM? There's nothing special about the campus except for the fact that it's in Coral Gables.Where do you live?Your school got a 'D' on the FCAT, right? They changed the grading technique so a lot of school grades when down.
lol Gator Hater.I've heard that before from a girl at my school.

I live in Miami too and yes, I've been to UM.Personally, I think the UM campus is much more appealing than MDC-Kendall.I heard about the new grading scales but the reason my school almost failed is because most kids who don't know English refuse to learn it.
Do you go to Sunset? I saw your profile 'c/o '09 Bom Chicka Wah Wah!' I don't know what was going through Julie's head when she came up with that, but it's much better than April's 'Senioritis'...
and you probably have no idea what I'm talking about.
I'm rambling.Chronic procrastination at its best.Mac ATTACK||

I'm kinda in your same situation.. I too live in Florida (Miami to be exact) and want to study Art History. I want to know if I have a chance at getting into Florida State but no one has helped me on this website. FSU has a great liberal arts program.. City College of New York and SUNY Purchase/New Paltz are my other choices so far, but I need some more suggestions. Good luck!

Atara, I know exactly what you're talking about. It's kind of embarrassing. What ever happened to that saying they made up freshman year as a reference to the c/o '06 shirts.

"We were warned. Now we've taken over." or something like that.
It was something I helped make up but in the end they tossed it/forgot about it.
lavitabassa:
wow. Art History is great.
I saw your thread, but I'm not so good at chancing people.

anyway..

BUMP bishies!

any suggestions?!

I'm adding a few ECs

-Math,English and Bio tutoring before school and during lunch.because I can.lmao.

I found FSU bumper stickers. As a 'Nole it's my duty, hate 'em tho.Right now I'm so loving USC-Go Trojans!
My mommy said she wouldn't pay for west coast or Midwest or anything that doesn't share our timezone(luckily Montreal does ^.~)
This is my sad excuse for a bump.Be thankful,at least it's not an anime reference.

FSU has in the last two years gone from an average enrolled SAT of 1206 to now an average of 1218+ (I've heard it as high as 1240). Fall 2008 will be especially competitive, with even a higher SAT average, as Spring 2008 has already been closed and thousands now forced into the Fall 2008 cycle.

FSU also data mines their applicant population and will unexpectedly shut admissions off when they reach the numbers they want. You MUST apply EARLY to have a shot.
