SM121/2 is a bit different from most classes that you're going to take.

An average 4 credit intro-level class usually involves 3 hours of lecture with a professor and 1 hour of discussion with a TA or TF. For classes like these, exams are usually during lecture. The person who grades the tests can vary depending on how much the professor delegates to the TF.

SM121/2 is 6 credits and involves a lecture, a discussion section and a professional skills lab.

The guy listed for your lecture is the course coordinator. He's in charge of everything and he'll teach a bunch of the lectures; however, the course is really taught by a team of professor's--each with a particular area of concentration. I believe the course sequence is sort-of broken up into:

SM121: Strategy, Accounting, Finance, Operations Management

SM122: Marketing, Organizational Behavior, Information Systems

You have the lecture with the entire freshman class (all 500 of you) and it will be taught by the professor who specializes in the particular area you're going over that day.

Each professor also teaches a discussion section of about 40 students. The discussion sections are usually spend discussing a case or doing presentations. Your discussion professor does all of the grading of your projects. The TA usually has some say in your participation grades and homework.

You also have a professional skills lab. An hour is usually spent for review and discussion as needed, and then the other hour is for you to do various things that get graded. You'll probably have to write a memo four times or so during class and it will get graded by professors in the Writing department.

Tests are given at night and are schedule seperately. You'll probably take them from 6-9 pm in lieu of having class that day (it'll be on your syllabus). They are completely multiple choice (still not very easy, mind you) and are graded by scantron.
