Hello friends!
So, I've been looking at Gettysburg, and it seems to have the type of academic programs that I'm looking for. (Which is hard to find because although I plan on being a history major which is available everywhere, I want to go somewhere with a wide range in terms of history, and this is not as available everywhere.) The only thing I'm worried about is the Greek life. It's not that I don't want to drink at all in college- I do enjoy partying. I'm just wondering if a slightly socially awkward history nerd would either be able to find a sorority to fit in with or find a niche outside of Greek life. I don't know if this is accurate or not, but whenever I hear that a place has a large Greek scene, I just picture high school all over again.
Thank you so much!!

Gettysburg’s social scene is centered around Greek life. Are there other things to do? Absolutely. Are they harder to find and with fewer options? Yes. An idea might be to do a visit on a Friday. Do the whole admissions routine, sit in on a history class or two, hang in the union with a coffee for while and then do an overnight stay with a student in the dorms and see what a Friday night at Gettysburg looks like. Get your hosts to show you all the options. Best of luck to you!

thank you so much!!!

You are welcome. If you like Gettysburg but the Greek scene is too much you might consider Muhlenberg. They have a good history department (no civil war battlefields) but it is close to a perfect fit for the slight nerd who is looking for an accepting community yet challenging academic environment. Best of luck to you, I’m sure you will find a great school!

Did you end up visiting yet, Foodandpuppies? If so, what did you think?
