Slightly terrible ECs, Chance me for UC schools / CSUs

Maybe they aren’t completely awful but they are worse than a lot of my fellow applicants I’ve seen on here. Please chance for UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UC Davis, UCI, UCSC, Cal Poly SLO, San Diego State, CSULB, and San Jose State. For Cal Poly SLO they count 9th grade so my GPA would be 4.09 capped.
My intended major is Software Engineering or Computer Science in some schools.

My stats are okay for most of the schools I’m applying to but I don’t really have anything else other than that. I know that’s a problem a lot of people struggle with, not being a leader. I participate willingly, but it’s difficult to get into a leadership position. I have a few more safety schools I am applying to which may be a bit much honestly but I’m more confident about those. Think I’m just stressed about applying for engineering major when it’s so impacted and there are amazing people applying.

Not sure why you keep posting the same thing, you should just bump one of your other threads if you want more feed back. CSU’s do not consider EC’s for admission purposes and the exception is SLO which only asks for hours/week if you had a leadership role (only 10% of the MCA points).

First you should calculate your MCA points for SLO (see post #52 to calculate): http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/cal-poly-san-luis-obispo/1694769-confused-about-mca-score-p4.html

SE will be less competitive at SLO vs CS, also at SJSU.

Your Capped Weighted UC GPA is 4.32. This is the GPA that all the UC’s will use while UCLA/UCB will also use your fully weighted UC GPA of 4.41. Your test scores and GPA are competitive for all the schools on your list. Your essays will set you apart more than your EC’s, since the UC’s consider essay’s very important while EC’s are important (based on common dataset info), so make those essays shine.

You will many options come Spring, so best of luck.

Thanks gumbymom! I didn’t know I could “bump” threads… I have another question, do all UCs look at admissions the same way? I have researched a little on other posts and some say that UCLA and UCB look more at essays and ECs than the other UC schools, who look more at GPA and SAT/ACT scores, but I’m not entirely sure about it.
