Congrats to the Cornell Concert Commission. Kid Cudi, Cee Lo Green, Lupe Fiasco, and Nelly among the performers at Cornell this year.

Should add that tix for all Barton Hall concerts is only $19 for students. Slope Day is free for students.

Nelly wasn’t the doing of the CCC, rather, the SDPB. CCC can do better than Nelly…

Slope Day is not free since every student already paid for it in the Student Activity Fee, about 40-70% of it actually. So yea…

Only 70 days to Slope Day! See y’all on the Slope…

So Ithaca is hip hop [and hippie]?

If you think “The Show Goes On” is good lupe then you clearly don’t like Lupe. Nobody who really knows his music, including Lupe himself, likes the album. He even stated himself that he feels like he basically got raped by his label. He mentioned this song specifically as an example of a sample that was hastily pushed on him and one he wasn’t proud of because it wasn’t within his control.

As usual, disagree with Feral24. "Nelly wasn’t the doing of the CCC, rather, the SDPB. CCC can do better than Nelly… " No, the SDPB has a huge, one-use budget. Based on the large amount of money they have to do a single show, they should be able to outdo each of CCC’s multiple shows for the semester. So assuming the SDPB spent most of their budget, Nelly must have cost a fair amount, and CCC would not have the budget to hire a better performer (than SDPB). So if anything, SDPB could do better. Perhaps you had it backwards?

A one-hit-per-decade wonder should be better than a one hit wonder, but that’s not saying much. The concert might not be great but slope day is always fun.

As usual, agree with somni and disagree with feral24, for different reasons. SDPB could do better than Nelly easily, but most artists don’t want to have a 12PM concert up in Ithaca, the middle of nowhere. Also, they could get better people with their money, but slope day is free so they need some money to roll over and they can’t spend all 100,000 or w/e of their budget. The student activity fee helps fund slope day but not by much.

but yeah, slope day is fun no matter who performs really. drake sucked last year but it was still the best day of cornell for me.

from the slope day programming board:

"Not only will our St. Louis superstar Nelly be tearing up the Slope, we are proud to announce he will be preceded by two very exciting and unique artists:

Ra Ra Riot and The Cool Kids!"

i don’t know about you people, but I’m actually very satisfied with nelly. I’ve been a long time nelly fan since his country grammar albulm
