I’ve heard that SLO’s architecture program is one of the best in the nation. I already got admitted to the College of Architecture & Environmental Design as an Architectural Engineering major (I was surprised this “engineering” major was not in the college of engineering and instead in the college of architecture…)

I guess all I want to know is some information on SLO’s architecture program (or architectural engineering) and some other points of interest. Thanks!

I was accepted for Architectural Engineering as well, it’s basically a structural engineering degree with some architecture classes to give you a feel for the field to facilitate understanding between the structural engineer and the architect. Structural Engineers and Architects tend to conflict when doing projects; the architectural engineering majors teaches you how to be a structural engineer while getting along with the architects, this is at least how I’ve come to understand it. For the first year, we take architecture courses along with the architecture students to get a feel for the drafting process, then we move on to the engineering side of building. Again, this is coming from someone who’s read much about the architectural engineering program, but doesn’t actually fully understand either field yet… So, I hope that helped.
