SLO's sociology department?

I’ve been trying to find any information about it, but there isn’t much besides the requirements needed to graduate.

I was wondering if there was anybody out there that knows a thing or two about SLO’s program (be it an outside spectator or someone already attending SLO as a soc major.) What is the general reputation of SLO’s Soc department? Are you happy with the knowledge you’ve gained or with the program in general? Is there a lot of resources readily available to you from this department? SLO is easily an exceptional school under it’s engineering et al departments, but how about SOC? I am currently a student at SFState and got waitlisted, but am curious to learn a bit more.

Thank you for your input and any other feedback that you may provide. Any little bit of information contributes greatly to my understanding. :)

Sociology is sociology. I wouldn’t recommend majoring in it unless you know exactly what you want to do with your degree. I’ve taken a couple sociology classes here, and they’ve been ok. They were really easy though, including the upper division one I took. There were more athletes in that class (mostly football players) than in any of my other classes at Cal Poly, including GE’s. I don’t know much about the department reputation, but I guess it’s decent. Most liberal arts here don’t get as much recognition as engineering, but that’s to be expected…
