Is anyone else having slow loading issues on CC? This happened several months ago, and then it was corrected. For the past few days, I have noticed it again, and today it is very significant. In fact, most pages don’t fully load at all for me.
I checked all other sites I frequent, and it isn’t occurring anywhere else except here.
Hi there…hard to say, as I wasn’t aware of any server issues. Are you still experiencing this today? The site has been loading fine for me lately. Anyone else notice sluggishness? Thanks!
Around 10:15 PM CDT, I experienced what I think FlyMeToTheMoon and MaineLonghorn are talking about. I would characterize my experience less as “slow loading” and more as “server slow to service requests.” When I think of the former, I think of the status message “transferring data from <a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com</a>” displaying for longer than usual whereas the latter is sitting on “waiting for <a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com</a>” for longer than usual.
I’m not complaining, just attempting to provide a data point in case anyone’s looking at this.
I’ve had this problem ever since I signed up here. Generally takes around 3-5 seconds per page load, but can take up to 10 seconds sometimes. I thought maybe CC just had a cheap hosting provider.
I was having the same issues yesterday, except the reverse case of the poster directly above me. At about 6:30 PM EST last night, I tried accessing the forum on four different browsers on my PC (Firefox, Chrome, IE, AOL Desktop), but none of them would load, yet it worked just fine on my mobile device. It worked fine afterwards, and I haven’t had any issues since then, but it’s happened to me a few times in the past week. I guess I would classify this as “sluggishness.” I’ll report back if this happens again.
Thanks for the feedback. I know we’ve reported issues to the dev team on multiple occasions in the past, and sometimes there were traceable problems. Other times, nothing obvious bubbled to the surface. I’ll try to locate and re-open a past dev ticket regarding this and post some of these recent comments. We are currently in the midst of our busiest time of year (obviously, what with decisions and all), so we need to ensure this issue does not re-surface and worsen.
