Slow Wireless Internet

Why is my wireless so slow? For all the wireless networks (UCLASECURE, UCLAWEB, UCLA_WIFI) I'm getting super slow connection speeds (1 Mbps). Is there any way to fix this? Maybe I did something incorrectly? I'm not sure.

Are you in your room? Signal will probably suck if you’re in your room and not in the lounge or something like that. Or are those the on campus networks.

Think about how many people you’re sharing that network with.

De Neve wireless internet is fast even if you are in your room

Forgot to mention, it also depends on your laptop’s wireless card. If it has n-wireless, it’s up to 10x faster than g-wireless (all laptops should have at least g nowadays).

Hooked up my wired LAN connection 10 minutes ago. Blows wireless out of the water.

De Neve’s wireless is sometimes pretty slow (if functioning at all) at night, especially from 9-12 PM.

^De Neve’s wireless really depends on your building. Talking about it like a single entity doesn’t make sense because, aside from an arbitrary naming association, their proximities (unlike Rieber Terrace 3rd floor and Rieber Terrace 6th floor) aren’t that close.

Also, there are really only 5 De Neve buildings. Acacia and Birch are technically one big contingent structure.
