I just committed to UCD about an hour ago and now I’m completing my Statement of Legal Residence. I’m currently on the page pertaining to driver’s license, licensing, and voting (page 8), and it has asked me: “If a non-driver, do you have a California Identification Card?” What does it mean by this (California Identification Card)? I’m a legal California resident, born and raised here, and I don’t have my driver’s license yet (I was planning to get it this summer after I graduated high school).
Thank you in advance!
I assume its asking if you have a regular CA ID. Thats usually whats issued prior to a DL. Or it might be the only ID if a person never obtains a DL.
California Identification Cards
DMV issues identification (ID) cards to persons of any age. The ID card looks like a driver license (DL) but is used for identification purposes only. A regular ID card is valid for six (6) birthdates from the date of application.
@Gumbymom Do I have to answer yes to be considered as a California resident? I showed your answer to my mother and she says that I don’t have one (though I have an SSN and birth certificate here and everything). Will answering no affect my residency status (how they determine me whether or not to be a resident of California)?
Answering No will not effect your residency status, but it might be nice to have one for proof of ID.
