I know for USNA the application for Summer Seminar is also your preliminary application for the Academy.
Is that the case at USMA? Does your SLS application also count as your preliminary application to the Academy? And if it does, does being accepted to SLS guarantee you an official candidate status? (Not asking wheteher or not it means you'll be accepted to West Point, just if you'll be assigned a candidate number and sent the complete application.)

Yes, it is your preliminary application. If you are accepted to sls, you are issued a candidate number, it is right on your acceptance letter. I too am looking at USNA for week 3 of NASS, and I am attending week 1 of SLS. Good luck being accepted!

Applying for SLS opens a candidate file and you are assigned a number, being rejected from SLS does not affect this. Only 800 candidates are accepted for SLS.
