Hello everyone,
First off I would like to thank you all for replying to all of the questions. It is really helping me out! I know that today applications for the SLS (January 10th) but my birthday is not until February 14th. Does this mean i should start applying today? Or do I have to wait until I turn 17? I also have a tour and meeting scheduled for February 13th. I have a 4.0 weighted GPA right now, got a 25 on ACTs when i took them this fall and will be retaking them many more times. What would you say is a solid ACT score that i should be going for? Thank you very much! I can not wait to hear back

i would pump up that ACT to about a high 20’s to 30. Also you do not have to be 17 to apply for sls

I have spoken with two current plebes at WP and one got in with a 26 on the ACT and the other with a 27. Not trying to provide false hope but if your other areas of your candidate portal are strong enough, it can balance out a lower ACT score. But, definitely take it as many times as you can! I have taken it 6 times and for some reason my score only seems to raise by 1 point everytime…

Don’t wait to apply. Admissions (at least when my son attended SLS) are rolling, so the earlier the application the better. Agree about taking the ACT again, but leadership roles, class rank, and athletic skills will balance scores.

I am going to be the swim team captain, two year president of the peer leaders club, will be president of the Respect committee, and varsity cross country and 3 years of lacrosse. Thank you very much for the responses too

Are your times (swim) competitive enough that you would be a potential athletic recruit? If so, we were told to contact the USMA Swim coach to let him know of your interest in the academy (that is what we were told by our advisor.)

No they are not competitive at all. I am not on another swim team outside of my school during the winter
