I am a new user to this forum but have been looking at USMA for a long time. I applied for the summer leader seminar and was put on the waiting list. Should I still consider going to the SLS a possibility, or what are my chances of still getting in to the SLS?

Hey rajben, there are already several threads on SLS, and we try to keep topics around here condenced together but I know how some things can easily get over looked on the larger threads. So just search around a bit before posting and you should be able to find something, but anyways.

I was in the same situation you were in back in December. I submitted the application on the 18th of Dec. I was put on the waiting list sometime around new years. I really didn't feel like the application for SLS represented me accurately and showed the things that are realy me, so I spent a considerable amount of time putting together a very nice resume further elaborating on the details of my EC's and leadership positions. I sent it in around the 10th of Jan. and admissions accepted me around the 28th.

Admissions said I was competitive but not among the most competitive with my initial app. but after they reviewed my resume and the "additional insight on my high school EC's and academics" it provided I was then placed in the 'among most competitive' group and offered a slot in SLS. They seemed to like this persistance alot. So perhaps you should consider this. Good luck, feel free to IM or PM me.

They always like it when you send in additional information because it shows the academy that you are really interested.
