Haven't heard yet...but a friend of mine said we'll hear tomorrow. Don't know if that means snail mail or email...

yes.. it came in the snail mail today.

Does "SLU" refer to St. Lawrence University or to St. Louis Univ.? Similiar to "USC"- South Carolina or Southern California.

nice. now the money

For those of you who got in, where are u guys from? And does SLU send the decisions in batches? And which one of u got the presidential scholarships?

Got in!!! I'm from chitown, and also waiting on UIC GPPA. I really hope I get into that. PM me for stats.

btw, how good is the program?

relative to others

ill go to it if i get the full ride. hopefully they liked my interview

i know that around 1500 kids applied to med. scholars and only 60-100 will get in

i just found out that I got in!

GPA=3.98

SAT= v650, m800,w710

sat2= math2c=790, chem 760 bioM 760

AP= 9 APs, 2 college credit courses

extra cirr activities= internship at cardiologist, medical internship at japan, volunteer hospital 350hourish, various clubs

Btw, did anyone else get in? and how is slu med school?

oh and i got presidential scholarships. I am from VA, but i am an international student(wihtout permanent residency). how come i didnt have an interview..?

you only get a full ride if you attend the weekend

got in!

ACT: 32
GPA: 4.3 weighted
Class Rank: 23/523

i read that the presidential scholarship ppl got their interviews in the end of feb. so if you didnt get an interview then u prolly wont get it now

and i dont think slu held any interviews this year for the med program..

l0vevik - how do u kno 1500 ppl applied...

i was at the presidential weekend interview and I asked the lady who was director of SLU college of medicine. She mentioned that 1500 people applied and 60 or so will get in. The thing with SLU medical scholars is that they want to see what you have accomplished as a whole person. Though you might have a 2400, 36, 4.00, if your a couch potato, then you won't get in.

32 act, ~4.2 GPA. I got in. I also got the Dean's scholarship for a total of 44,000. 9k/year tuition and 2k/year room and board.

I don't really want to go though. Saint Louis isn't exactly the best college town, and SLU's med school isn't the greatest either.

And I highly doubt that 1500 people applied for this thing. My MSAR says that a little over 200 people applied in the 04-05 entering class.

everybody is saying they dont want to go.

its your loss. pros outweigh the cons. A 45% acceptance rate into med school isn't what i look forward to. Residency is what really matters.

These programs usually only admit kids who they know would be strong enough candidates to be admitted through the normal application process. So 45% is not the relevant statistic.

If even. But, if you really are aiming for a high-powered residency, there are some schools that are better for that than others. Examine SLU's Match List and see if those are the specialties and hospitals you'd like to match into.

what you mentioned is totally true... And i will check the matchlist

in response to the other person... i sincerely believe that SLU's rating as a medical school is not as good as other because of its endowment, alumni giving rate and other small factors which add up. Though the average mcat scores are not as good as harvard or wash u, they beat amazing schools such as mayo and are tied with dartmouth and boston etc. SLU's ranking as a whole, college of medicine and undergraduate is slowly increasing in ranks. I am assuming there will be a huge jump when the new multimillion dollar arena and research building are finished next year.

SLU: 31, 3.69.
Mayo: 33, 3.9
Dartmouth: 33, 3.66
