Alright. Well I am a very indecisive person and I am looking for some advice. St. Lawrence my top choice had waitlisted me, so I decided to send my enrollment deposit to University of Colorado at Boulder. Both schools are very different yet appeal to me. I love that St. Lawrence is small, it has the science programs I am interested in, I know people who go there that love it, it's closer to home (CT), the First Year Program appeals to me as well. However, the weather isn't as nice and there isn't much to do unless you want to go to Canada, which could be fun, but it doesn't have as much to do like Colorado.

Colorado on the other hand being a bigger school would have more opportunities as it is a bigger school, it has an awesome location, it has other academic choices that St. Lawrence does not have, and I have fallen deeply in love with it over the past month. However, it is very far from home and when I tell people I am going there all they know about it is that it's a party school.

All I know is that one part of me will be terribly upset after my decision. Anyone want to give some advice?

It is hard to give really good advice to someone you don’t really know. But based on what you just said, the following comes through:

1) St. Lawrence- more in your “comfort” zone, the place to go if you are more interested in feeling safe and secure than adventurous. Small size, closeness to home, knowing some people who are already there all point to this. This does NOT mean you won’t face challenges, but all of these things will ease the transition to college

2) Colorado- more an adventure, or at least represents taking a bigger gamble. You like the environment as a visitor (as you should; everyone has their own preferences but Canton, NY is pretty quiet). So, you see the advantages of CU but you’re held back by a little bit of insecurity about the unknown: will you get lost in the crowd? will you be able to meet new people? how will it be to be so far from home in a different part of the country? in other words, are you up to a tougher transition?
There’s no right answer, either choice is OK! But I do get an impression that you’re reluctant to take too big a leap. You don’t have to force yourself, although with more time you’d probably feel comfortable at Coroado too, just not right away. And don’t worry, if you do go to SLU you will still have plenty of new experiences.
Reputation really shouldn’t be a factor in your decision. People around your home may not know how good Colorado is, but on the other hand I can assure you people in other places have never even heard of Saint Lawrence. They are both pretty good schools, don’t worry about that either way.
