Hi everyone, I’m currently a senior in high school, and I had already received the offer from Saint Louis University(Aerospace), and computer engineering from Purdue.
I can’t choose which one I like most, SLU gives me scholarship about 18K dollar per year, and I like its campus as well as the school size; however, I know Purdue is a pretty good college, in addition, I plan to change the computer to aerospace or mechanical engineering, but its a very big school, this is the thing that I don’t like.
I can’t find the aerospace ranking of SLU, but a lot people say its very good.
For the tuition, since Purdue is public, SLU is cheaper for me.
So I just want to ask for ur opinions and some advices, thanks!
SLU is great for Aero, and it is a good school overall. Purdue is a great engineering school, but as you mentioned it is a very big school. If you like SLU and it is cheaper for you, that would be the logical choice in my mind.
SLU is great. Don’t worry about rankings…they’re meaningless. Are you OOS for Purdue?
No, actually I applied for it as international students, but i complete the entire high school courses in U.S.
Well, then you are OOS for Purdue since you’re an int’l.
Since you prefer a smaller school, if you can afford SLU, then go there. It’s a very good school.
If you plan on going back to your home country after graduation, then definitely go to Purdue. School name does matter, particularly in overseas countries. Unless Purdue is substantially more expensive, it is the better choice for internationals.
ok, thanks for ur advices. I still have to think about this.
I’ll stay in U.S, and keep study my P.H.D. That’s the plan so far.
I would say go for the cheapest option and the one you like the most (which happens to be SLU.) Purdue is a good school, but it is enormous - over 38,000 students. SLU has more like 13,000. I can definitely understand not wanting to go to a huge school - I don’t want that either.
anyone have other opinions? I really appreciate it.
