Small Applied Math Schools

Well I'm starting to put together my list, and while I'm not sure if I'd like a bigger school or smaller school, I haven't found any mention of smaller schools that are good at applied math. Does anyone have any idea? Is there such a ranking?

bump :)

bump again, Does anybody know?

Williams math department is meant to be very good. This humanities specialist hasn't a clue what "applied math" means, so don't jump on me if I've misunderstood your request. :)
Mathematics at Williams

Caltech and Harvey Mudd both have very good applied math programs, and they're small schools.

Thanks, to both of you. I was already considering Caltech and HMC, but what about any LACs in the Northeast? I'll look into Williams.

Non-tech LACs like Swarthmore, Williams, Carleton, Wesleyan and Pomona will offer strong math programs with "applied" course opportunities but none will offer a true applied math major. Applied math programs are usually tied to engineering schools which explains why places like Harvey Mudd and Caltech were already recommended. If small size is of interest to you (as it seems to be) also consider looking into Rice's Applied Math program.

Harvey Mudd is the best known for having such a combination.

I think Brown has a good program.

mudd just got something like a million bucks to pursue research in diff eqs...which is cool because even though a million bucks isn't a huge amount of money it really opens a lot of opportunities up to the ~30 math majors interested in applied math.

Ivies(not Cornell), Swarthmore, Williams come to mind.
