The engineering first curriculum makes it different from most other first/second year curriculum; this is not reflected by any rankings out there. Many students think it's a great curriculum but they also say the workload is heavy (partly because team projects are involved and they tend to be more time-consuming).</p>
<p>The engineering school also has a very well-established co-op program. Walter</a> P. Murphy Cooperative Engineering Education Program - Northwestern University</p>
<p>Although not guaranteed, Caltech has a 3/2 admissions program with the following midwest LACs:</p>
<p>Grinnell (IA)
Oberlin (OH)
Ohio Wesleyan</p>
