Can someone tell me about any good small LAC type colleges that have a business major? Most LACs don't seem to - I want both! Thanks in advance.

babson college in MA

Bucknell and Washington & Lee

Brown has a business econ major....

Look at Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Maryland. A unique opportunity- a small LAC that plays Division I athletics and has business and accounting majors.

Elon in NC

Claremont McKenna College

Thanks guys, I'll look at all of these. I definitely want to get out of CA, though, so the out-of-state ones are preferred. My cousin went to Bucknell - maybe I can ask her what she knows about the business major. Babson, though - I'm guessing it might not be a good pick since I'm not entirely sure what I want to major in. I heard they've expanded the course offerings, but still.

Trinity U in San Antonio

Colgate has a business administration major

DePauw in Indiana...
I think that the founder of Starbucks went there...

Except for one accounting course that doesn't even count as an elective towards an economics major, Colgate has no business courses. Theoretical economics classes are the closest you're going to get.

What about Hamilton? Anyone know? It's not really a top choice but I've only just started looking at it.

Wharton. :)

penn is BIG.

Hamilton is pretty good, about #20 LAC. It's very small at ~ 400 per class. It's fairly humanities and social sciences focused and would doubt that they even have the one accounting class that Colgate does. Both schools (along with most of the rest of the top 20 LACs) do a pretty good job of placing graduates in investment banking analyst classes without formal business courses. W&L is a top 20 LAC with undergrad business, but don't know if these grads would have any better job prospects than W&L grads in more core majors.

The University of Puget Sound has a Business Leadership program, and according to College Board's information, 14% of students major in business/marketing, second only to social science majors.

bump....time for a revival! thanks for all the tips.

Holy Cross offers an accounting degree in addition to LAC economics major.
