i want to major in neuroscience, or major in biology with an emphasis in neuroscience & also do pre-med. i would prefer to go to a smaller college (partly for the attention from professors but also because of the fact that i would have more opportunity to stand out in pre-med) that also has a good research program in neuroscience.
now, before everyone starts naming out ivies, here are my stats:

uw GPA: 3.5
weighted: 3.8
SAT composite: 1940 (math: 690. cr: 630)
i'm confident in my EC's and essay writing skills.

i was looking at places like brandeis, university of rochester, university of pittsburgh, case western reserve, and lehigh university. (yes, i know that they're not all small colleges..that's why i'm trying to add more of those to my list)

any suggestions for small, research-oriented colleges that i have a shot at getting into?

Allegheny College - It is not a research oriented college but even as an LAC, research is readily available. As a matter of fact, a research project is required of all graduates regardless of major. Allegheny has a strong pre-med program and would be a match for you with your stats.

Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA has a neurosci major and extensive research opportunities; your stats would be a match…they take a large amount of the class ED though; if you need FA they will give you an early read

Click on the pdf document, “Undergraduate Neuroscience Education: Blueprints for the 21st Century”

It will give you curriculum recommendations for neuroscience programs nested in psychology and biology depts and for interdisciplinary neuroscience programs.
You can use this information to compare various neuroscience programs.
