small liberal arts colleges

i am really interested liberal arts colleges with student bodies under 3,000 students. so far my top choices are middlebury, amherst, bates, bowdoin, and colby. i was wondering if anyone knew of other schools in warmer areas similar to the schools mentioned/schools abroad that fit the criteria? thanks so much.

pomona, pitzer, reed

There are TONS and TONS of options. I suggest looking at the US News+World report top LACs section (you can find it online) and checking out the schools in states with weather you like (be that the slightly milder Maryland or the much warmer California).

Occidental

Pepperdine, Malibu, California...warm with a gentle breeze:)

Pomona -- CA
Claremont McKenna CA

Sewanee -- TN
Rhodes -- TN

Guilford -- NC
Davidson -- NC

Washington & Lee -- VA
Emory & Henry -- VA

Centre College -- KY

Millsaps -- MS

Rollins -- FL
New College -- FL

Southwestern -- TX
Austin -- TX

The top ones would be Claremont McKenna, Pomona, Davidson, Washington and Lee, Occidental.

Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. It doesn't get the rep it deserves due to location, but you sure will get something warm year round. If you care about rankings it is the #1 Master's in the West according to US News. It does have a couple of masters programs, but for the most part it is a LAC.

Yes, Danhernan brings up a good point about LACs. Many colleges that just have a few Masters colleges and therefore do not show up as LACs but have the atmosphere of one. Some are also excellent admissions deals. A lot of the catholic schools fall into that category.

Alex-
If you provided some stats, we could perhaps be a little more helpful.

*** For example, There are schools like Flagler College and Eckerd College in Fl, but these schools are at a different academic level than say Davidson.

Furhman in SC

Hood College, MD
Wofford College, SC

Furman would be in the category with Flagler and Eckerd. Consider Berry College and Ogelthorpe in Ga as well.

Rice (Tx) is not a LAC, but feels like one.

Dont mean to offend, but Furman may be in the size range of Flagler and Eckerd but is well above in rep

Furman's middle 50% SAT scores were 1180-1380. Flaglers were 1030-1200 range Eckerds is 1010-1220. So, just comparing SAT scores, Furman's students are above the other two.

Colorado College-this year median ACT was 31 and RD acceptance rate fell to 26%. My S is a freshman and he has met two students who turned down Middlebury and Amherst to attend Colorado College.

If you're looking at Amherst, maybe check out Williams and Swarthmore? Both are around 2000, same competitive level - just in a different location.
They might not exactly be warm though...

^ Williams is ANYTHING but warm. awesome school though.

Warm? Any of the Claremont Colleges, Davidson, William and Mary.
