So I was a Siemens Regional Finalist for Individuals (Top 30 in nation) etc.. However, on my CommonApp, I put it as a State/Regional Level rather than a National level. Is it worth emailing Harvard about changing it, or does Harvard know that it is a national level award? Thanks in advance!

You are a Regional Finalist, meaning the award you won is at the State/Regional Level. You identified it correctly: <a href=“Siemens Foundation - About us - USA”>Siemens Foundation - About us - USA;

@gibby No, but Siemens Regional Finalist is > Siemens Semifinalists. Regional Finalists means you are split into a certain region. 300 are chosen to be semifinalist in the region. Then 30 individuals/30 teams are chosen to be regional finalists. the 30 individuals/30 teams are then split into 6 regions: Caltech, MIT, UT Austin, Notre Dame, Carnegie Mellon, and Georgie Tech. So 5 individuals/“Region.” Siemens Regional Finalist is actually Nationals, not State/Regionals.

^^ Does your name appear on the list of about 100 Regional Finalists from the link in post #1? If so, that’s a Regional award – Siemens even titles the list as such. Is there another list that Harvard can google that shows you one of the 30 individuals selected for a National award?

If Admissions is interested in an applicant – especially a student who is a finalist for Intel/Seimens – they google the list/applicant to make sure the student has won the award. It’s part of the due diligence an Admissions Officer does on an applicant before bringing them to the full committee. I could only find the list of about 100 Regional Finalists. Maybe you can supply a link to the list of 30 national finalists.

My name is on there…

@gibby That’s a combination of the 30 teams (usually 2-3 members on each team) and the 30 individuals…

^^ Look at the document provided by Seimens, as I’m sure Harvard will google it. It says

That’s the way Seimens has titled the award, so it’s best to be consistent in your application and do the same thing, which you have already done. So, there’s no need to update Admissions UNLESS you can provide them with another list from Seimens that says you’ve won a National award.

Regardless, it is not worth emailing about, even if it were incorrectly stated, IMO.
