Small overlap between essays

Is it a problem if my essays overlap slightly? One essay talks about writing for the local marsh, and the other essay is about writer's club.

There's one or two paragraphs that are similar (they talk about how I got into writing). Is this a problem? The Marsh essay is a mini autobiography, so I can't delete the paragraphs.

Here’s my advice:

1) None of the paragraphs should overlap. There is no justification for that.

2) I think submitting two separate essays about the same topic, in general, is risky. You don’t want to come across as one-dimensional. This is your opportunity to tell colleges about yourself. One good essay should be enough to reveal your interest in writing.

Thanks for the response. One essay talks about the Marsh, and how interviewing people impacted me. The other talks about how writer’s club changed me.

Is that still too repetitive? I also briefly discuss my interest in science in the Marsh essay (this is backed with research EC’s).
