Small public school vrs application...

I'm starting to get really nervous about applying, so let me ramble for a bit...

I've gone to the same tiny school since preschool. The population of the high school was in the mid two hundreds when I started, and its about 340 ish now. It's great in some aspects, but I'm starting to realize I missed out big time on alot of oppertunities because the school was so small. My best analogy to my high school education is I was given the tip of the iceburg. Is it possible to get into MIT even if I am "behind par" on knowledge under my belt, but up to par on being able to use my head?

I think I want to write my application essay (the one about describe the world you live in, something like that) about how I love my school, and I've grabbed everything they've offered me, but by virtue of being such a small school, they could not offer as much.

Help? Suggestions? Etc? Anything and everything is welcome. I dont want to be dismissed just because I was not in a school that offered extra ciricular other than football, or classes that gave me a lesser depth of knowledge.

Your application will be evaluated in the context of what was available to you in high school and how you chose to take advantage of the opportunities you had.

More practically, I have friends at MIT from all sorts of different backgrounds, some similar to what you've described. Freshman year is basically one big leveler, where people from high schools of all varieties of rigor are brought to the same playing field.

Sweet. That calms my nerves quite a bit.

i second mollie on this. I come from a small school to :) [class size = 11]

Holy cow. My graduating class is around 100

o man...

my class is over 600 i think
