Small Solid Universities

I have chosen a few schools and they're very big so I decided to try small schools. I was wondering if there are small schools that are

1.Small (obviously)
2.Have a good location
3.Not that expensive <$25000 if possible
4.Doesn't have to be prestigious or anything but decent

If your wondering, I still don't know what I'm going to major in but possibly...maybe...try...Forensics or Engineering.

I heard Clark University was a solid small university but it resides in a lousy neighborhood so I didn't want that one. Any help?

Not sure, but maybe WashU in St. Louis?

Also, maybe Wesleyan, though I don't know your stats and it is expensive.

Your cost limitation is affecting your choices too much; you do realize that you will get substantial financial aid (if your family has lower income) at top schools right?

I am not sure where you live, but SUNY New Paltz was declared Hottest small state school by Newsweek

Define "good location".

Oh, is it really? Then you can ignored the fee :P

Well, like I said, it doesn't have to be a top school because I'm pretty sure they're out of my league.

Thanks cliche, I have found information on them before and those school are very tough to get in for me :(

Hmmm....good location would be a place where is it easy to commute to other places. So I don't mind living in cities either as long as if it's safe :P

University of Vermont-Burlington-might be too pricey
UNC-W-Wilmington-near the beach and they offer shuttles around the area
University of Mary Washington-an hour from Richmond, and an hour from Washington DC-transportation is available in the area, and nearby train service to Richmond and DC

These are all small public Us. I don't know if that is what you are looking for. Private schools have a larger sticker price but you might get merit of financial aid. Drew, or Clark are out of cities, but you can get into NY or Boston from these schools. They have high sticker prices. You need to see if you are in the top % of applicants and stand a chance at merit aid, or find out what your efc is and if the school meets near 100% of need. One school that I believe meets full need, for example, and is 30 minutes out of Chicago would be Lake Forest U. This is a private LAC, not a university.

U Tulsa, maybe? they give great IB credit.....

University of Alaska Fairbanks. Enrollment on the main campus is about 5,000, 70% of classes have 19 or fewer students, total OOS tuition/fees/room/board of $20,000. Top-notch science and engineering programs with great opportunities for undergraduate research.

It's a great location if you like the cold :) and the campus community is great.

Look at DePaul in Chicago.

since prestige doesnt matter to you, let me suggest a school youve probably never heard of. carthage college in kenosha, wisconsin. it has a great, beautiful location right on lake michigan, its only an hour from chicago and about 30 minutes from milwaukee. its about 32k for tuition, room and board, but they are very generous with merit aid. i have a 2.8 gpa and 25 act and they gave me 7k a year, and they also have a lot of competitive scholarships worth a lot more. the student body is about 2000. also, if you like sports, almost all of their teams are really good and competitive, and their facilities are really nice. if you don't mind going to a school with little prestige, then id suggest checking it out.

In case expense ends up being an issue after all, the cheapest private I've seen so far is Drury University in Missouri... something like $24k.

DePaul is huge...over 25,000 students, I think

wesleyan is not a prime location. middletown ct is not a nice place sorry. i would go with western ct state university. prime location cheap and great academics. also try SUNY geneseo

depaul has about 15,000 undergrads

^^wait, you're saying Genesco, New York is a prime location? It's five miles from rochester (pop. 212,000) By that standard, Middletown is practically cosmopolitan.

Western Ct makes a bit more sense; the MTA runs a trunk line through Danbury.
