small spelling error

I just looked over an essay as I was pasting it in to Elon Univ.'s application. I have already used the same essay on my Comm App. to DePauw. Despite reading, proofing, re-reading, and re-proofing, I found a small spelling error. I spelled toward t-w-o-a-r-d…and the worst part is that this was in the “academic honors” box!! IF DePauw even notices this, will it honestly make a difference (that is THE only spelling or grammar error on my app)?..i was assured that a school would not reject me based on one spelling error…and I fully believe that, but will it make an impact?

It's probably not a big deal, and there is nothing you can do about it now, so just forget about it.

I spelled seperate as separate on my applicatiom to Amherst, Bowdoin and a few others before I caught the mistake. I also left out a word in one of my essays to Bowdoin.

From what I understand is that a few typos won't kill an application but more than a handful might affect it negatively. Just remember, if you otherwise have expressed yourself clearly and cogently, and your test scores, grades and recs indicate good command of the english language, a misspelling or two won't impact you much at all.

Admissions officers are human, as are we. They know that most candidates have several essays to do for different schools, in addition to all the normal stuff. Just my 2 cents.

You can forget about DePauw, try DePaul now. LOL It shouldnt be a big deal, those adcoms probably read so many essays they just assume spelling is correct.
