“I don’t see the connection - I don’t use Apple PCs but I have an iPhone. There’s no relation between the two.”

Besides PC, there are also IPad and IPod. IPod is especially very relavant here because IPhone will supercede in terms of functions and now you don’t have to carry 2 devices.

if you get an iPhone, be sure to activate and practice Find My IPhone as soon as you get it,and check it again periodically to make sure you have not accidentally disabled it. We bought our daughter an iPhone for a graduation present, and it was stolen hours before she was to leave for college. Weknew the minute it happened, and could have used my iPhone to find hers if she installed the app. Basically, it can show you where it is on a gps and play a sound. my friend followed hers down the freeway and retrieved it from a 5th grader’s backpack who had "found "it. it is also helpful when you are looking for it and it has fallen under the bed!

I have an iPhone and a Droid RAZR for work (we develop mobile stuff) and yet the phone I absolutely love is a Windows Phone 7.5. I know it’s in the 1%-2% minority, but knowing what I know about usability and simply getting the job done, I would not choose anything else.

The apps I use every day? traffic (INRIX) and Bing Maps (awesome), gas prices, Fragger (game), Angry Birds, ESPN Score Center, Amazon.

Check out the Nokia Lumia 900 coming out in a few days at AT&T… If I had to choose Verizon, I’d say Droid RAZR or the Maxx.

As a note, there’s software somewhat similar to this for laptops out there (I remember there being a freeware program, but for the life of me I can’t remember it) that does something similar. In addition it can take picture/video when it’s opened and will silently send them back to the original owner. I’ve read a number of accounts on the internet where it’s lead to recovery of laptops after they’ve been stolen.
