Smart, with a social life?

“messing around in the little kids playground”

Out of context that’s be REALLY sketchy…

If you’re thinking I play with small kids, than no. I hate kids, they’re dirty, horrific little rascals. I hang out with kids my age (high school).

Haha, a fairly damning indictment of small children but not entirely inaccurate…

Smart kids are pedophiles. Interesting.

ha, kidding.

Actually, I’m neither smart or a socialite, but I do know a person!
The valedictorian for my class. She got a 35 on the ACT and a 2350 on the SAT. She’s also gorgeous. I mean drop dead gorgeous. Pretty big almond eyes, wavy silky brown hair, skinny with a body, and tall! She’s also pale. Not to mention that she’s loaded, both her parents drive this Mercedes Benz around, and I think she got into UPenn. Not to mention that she’s a socialite, the most popular girl in the school and the Senior Class president, Student Council President, FBLA Vice President, National Honor Society Secretary, School Council Representative and co-chairperson of Special Olympics in my school. She’s also one heck of a speaker, and a very good debater, and an only child. Every boy in my school wish they were her boyfriend, and every girl want to become just like her. ( Sometimes, I wish I’m her too). She’s the girl that got EVERYTHING. Smart, gorgeous, rich, and a socialite.

I’ll admit I don’t have a 2400 nor am I the valedictorian of my class but I do have decent stats along with a good social life. I personally can’t live a life with only academics; you need to enjoy life to get through the stress- that’s the way it has worked for me.

My friend - who got a 2000+ on the SATs, is in 4 APs senior year and has a 4.0 GPA - has a huge social life. She goes out partying every friday and saturday and gets totally wasted. =]

I get high A’s… kinda a social life :stuck_out_tongue: mostly through my EC’s though. You meet lots of fun and interesting people through there. But my main school friends? Usually only at school >.> I have something all day on Saturday’s and Sundays (including the evening) blech!

I have a 3.8 and I don’t spend that much time studying, I could do better but I feel that when I’m 50 and I look back on high school, am I gonna be glad that I slaved around for 4 years and was miserable and got into Harvard or that I had a good balance, was happy, and still got into a pretty good school? I’ll take the latter and enjoy four years of my life.

Social life and intellect are mutually exclusive. I’d rather have the social life then an amazingly high score, i’d say.

yes it’s possible.

look at UCLA.

I have a 4.0 (unweighted) and a 34 on my ACT. I have a fairly active social life. I have a boyfriend of about six months. We typically go out once during the week and twice or so on the weekends, and then I have a group of friends from school and another group from my main EC, and I typically go out with each group once a weekend. I attend football games for my school on a semi-regular basis.
So I’d say I have a fair balance of academics and social.

Yeah, I give props to those extremely intelligent people that have lives, and don’t live high school obsessing over harvard to the extent that they don’t have friends/social life.

I am taking 5 APs this year (senior) and completely have a social life. I hang out with my girlfriend all of the time and go out and party. But then again, I don’t study at all. I do all of my homework though.

Yea I agree with what people said. It’s possible.

I had a longer post but it got deleted. So I’ll make this short. I have 5.0 and 2350+ and I always have like 10-15 people at my house every Saturday/Friday night. And I think it really depends on how much time you need to accomplish your academic goals. I didn’t do too much prepping for SAT.

nothing

i was pretty much every college’s dream applicant,
but i would have given up a lot of it for a good group of friends

the name of this thread describes me :)

I’m really happy for you.

Why r u soooo mean to me!?!?!?!
