i think its fair to say girls do better grades-wise in school than guys until probably college

From my experience, I'd say that guys and girls are, on average, equally smart but that the standard deviation for guys is higher (more geniuses, more retards, etc.). Guys are also more likely than girls to be slackers.

Well I wasn't trying to make any point actually..but I most certainly hope that that prevention is not going to change. Make my life easier.

Not funny. At. All.

Girls tend to cluster around the middle of the intelligence scale, while guys have more people at the two extremes (really dumb or really smart). You can't really generalize stuff like that, though.

Also, this is a terrible thread and you should feel bad for making it.

Sorry, INVENIAMVIAM, but I'm not interested in your response. In previous posts you've made, you've shown a clear lack of maturity on your part. In other words, gtfo.

Ooooh, burn!!! lololololololol!

Srsly though, it's not like this thread is at all serious -- I mean, we're not here to "debate" or whatever, especially over such a poorly constructed and vague a topic. This thread needs hijacking, methinks...

[oh, and on a related note, there's not a single girl in my AP Calc BC class AND there's only one girl in my AP Physics class. Certainly, this is incontrovertible evidence for the superiority of men over women in these two realms! {both classes have class sizes of about 30} :O]

Yep, boring responses like the one your giving. I told you, leave your moral values at the door and stop taking it so damn seriously ( < implies no hard feelings)

LMFAO, oh man, MORAL FEELINGS? LOL. Look at your responses, the thread you've created and you're telling me not to take it seriously?

Your life is characterized by boredom, and epic failure. Oh please, accept that fact that any half-decent person opposite your gender owns you in life and move on.

I can't believe I'm saying this in defense of her, but I'd say she's a lot more "mature" and better-off than you are, and being "mature" in this kind of thread is even more depressing anyways..

This is hilarious when the reader knows that you go to an all-male school where students from the local all-female school occasional cross-register. XD

Euphoria z, I love you based on half of your posts and hate you based on the other half. We should be friends.

(Clearly, I have strong opinions on the internets.)

Anyways, everyone who's attacked this thread is dumb. Wait -- a pointless thread?! On HSL?! I thought all of our threads were meaningful and filled with nothing but intelligent conversation: like this one, this one, and this!

You've missed it, as usual. It isn't so much the pointlessness of a thread much as the subject itself and its details. ;)

Either way, I'm playing - Guys > girls in intelligence.

"LMFAO, oh man, MORAL FEELINGS? LOL. Look at your responses, the thread you've created and you're telling me not to take it seriously?"

No, moral values.

"Your life is characterized by boredom, and epic failure. Oh please, accept that fact that any half-decent person opposite your gender owns you in life and move on."

Boredom, yes. Epic Failure, probably (we'll find out :)).

"Anyways, everyone who's attacked this thread is dumb. Wait -- a pointless thread?! On HSL?! I thought all of our threads were meaningful and filled with nothing but intelligent conversation: like this one, this one, and this!"

Touche.

Ah well, I guess I've derailed this thread even more with my bickering. No hard feelings, honestly, I just found it hilarious...lol @ moral values.

I'll just stick with the topic, again: guys > girls. I'll let the argument drop.

re: OP:
No, it's not necessary to be politically correct all the time. However, as a rule, it's best to NOT be an ignorant ****face.
Rehashing cultural stereotypes regarding the relative intelligence of women is not only useless and degrading, it is BORING. Epic. Fail.

Dear lookbeyond,

If you have a problem, then don't read the thread.

Regards,
Poseur

Rehashing cultural stereotypes regarding the relative intelligence of women is not only useless and degrading, it is BORING. Epic. Fail."

Why I'm arguing with a self-proclaimed feminist, I don't know. But your blatantly obvious error can't go uncorrected. In the thread, I asked people to take a stand on WHO was smarter women or men. So my question to you is, how do women get the short end of the stick in this thread? I never even took a side in this thread, I just thought it would be interesting to see what other people had to say. I could understand your anger if I posed the question "why are men smarter then women?" But I didn't, so your basically getting yourself worked up over nothing. Nice.

Going to an all girls school is actually good for situations like this in that we don't have any girl/guy stereotypes. There are plenty of super smart but lazy girls, plenty of annoying perfectionist girls, just stupid girls, and plenty in the middle.

Hmmm, well, given that no coherent definition of intelligence has yet been provided (I think some attempt had been made to establish it as the ostensive but I simply don't roll like that! ;D) I think I'll just assume that one's intelligence is directly proportional to the total mass of one's hair (cranial and body). Thus, women with very long hair should be deemed more intelligent than women with short hair, all other things being equal, and hairy men should be considered smarter than those clean shaven or naturally hairless. Comparisons between the sexes directly should be examined on a case-by-case basis.

Or, conversely, hair could be a hindrance to one's intelligence, and the bald shall inherit the earth.

edit: Oh, and shhhhh @ poseur, that hurts the validity of my otherwise perfectly credible argument!

Your question does not exist in a vacuum. You know well that men are almost universally considered smarter than women, and that .: any discussion of "whether men or women are smarter" would inevitably evolve into "guys are better at math and science, which is obviously a more important pursuit lol!"

I only responded because a) since I'm on CC, I'm obviously procrastinating doing something else, and b) shockingly, I enjoy having my ideas challenged. That is how people learn things. Don't open questions for discussion if you don't want to hear people's responses.

"Your question does not exist in a vacuum. You know well that men are almost universally considered smarter than women"

No their not. The case is usually people say both genders are equal in intelligence, as evidenced by responses in this thread. Stop repeating stereotypes that existed in the 1800's. That's like saying that people still consider white people better than black. Very few do believe this still (and there are some who think blacks are better).

"and that .: any discussion of "whether men or women are smarter" would inevitably evolve into "guys are better at math and science, which is obviously a more important pursuit lol!"

You just sound like a complete idiot making ridiculous assumptions about my thought process. I'm not here to boost my sex's ego. If anything, your giving girls a bad rep. Studies have shown this is proven to be true overall. And no one is saying it's a more important pursuit.

Your opinion is biased becaue you still think the world is out to get girls. Stop throwing a pity party for your gender and try opening your eyes: this thread was meant for nothing more than entertainment purposes. Way to ruin it.

Idiot.

"Don't open questions for discussion if you don't want to hear people's responses."

I want to hear an answer to my question, not someone going off on a tanget about how unjust I am.

You guys are humans..what do you know??!! I am an all powerful robot/machine and I conclude that men are more intelligent than women overall. End of story.
