SMC, GCC, and PCC. Does it matter?

^ Correction: *do anything. Hahah.

Commuting to SMC is AWFUL!!! Avoid it at all costs. I dropped a class because I couldn’t deal with driving there (it was an evening class, so I never had to pay for parking but the rush hour cummute was terrible).

That aside, it doesn’t matter what community college you attend (in terms of getting accepted to the UC’s). SMC may have a lot to offer in other respects, but I don’t believe that there is an advantage to having that name on your transcripts.

I went to a small, ghetto CC and got into all the UC’s I applied to. Go wherever is most convenient.

Commuting to SMC isn’t that bad in the evening… I used to commute from West Hollywood in the morning everyday until I moved to Santa Monica. Never doing that again.

If it’s too far from you, then don’t go to SMC. The parking in the morning is terrible… For example: If your class is at 8 AM, then you should be in the parking structure at around 7:30-45. Anytime after that there is no more room to park… Good thing about SMC is that they have satellite campuses that ALWAYS have parking.

PCC all the way…The classes there will set you way ahead of the curve in preperation for UCLA (smc is good for that as well, but if its not close forget it; there’s better options)

PCC got me into UCLA sooo smoothly :)

Just remember to register for classes as soon as possible and you’ll be set.

Hmm anybody have any feedback on El Camino College? The transfer rate seems to be rather high but I have no idea how bad the parking and commute is.

go to El Camino College, i got into UCLA, UC Berkeley and USC for business/ economics, which are the most impacted at the respective schools.

Jesus, I totally agree. It usually takes me 1 hour to find a parking spot if I pass 8:15. There are about 5 major parking lots at GCC, there will be absolutely NO SPOT in any of them between 8:15-10:30 and 16:40-5:30. OMG level.

oh, you were the one who was following me…

parking at gcc is not that bad anymore since the drop deadline just passed.

The lot near the gas station has been empty everyday this week so far , and I get there at around 9. (At least 25 spots available in that lot , with people leaving)

There will always be people circling the main parking structure since it is the closest , but people never leave and it takes forever until they let cars into the structure.

I also return at 12:30 for a 1:15 class , and have never had problem finding parking in the main structure.
