SMC TO USC and UCs?

Hello. I was originally thinking about transferring from SMC to UCLA, but I was looking at USC's options for minors and they have a lot more choices.

So I have a few questions.
1) Have many of you successfully transferred from SMC to USC? Or do you know of many?
2) USC doesn't accept the IGETC, right? How did you go about to choosing transferrable courses? Did most of them just end up overlapping?
3) Continuing with 2, USC seems to require less classes to transfer. Did you apply for USC earlier than other colleges? Or did you wait to complete the IGETC first to apply to UC's and USC at the same time?
4) If you were to transfer into a major with music, does USC/UCLA accept the music classes for transfer? (like theory, harmony, etc.)

Thanks everyone. :)

5) Also, even though you’re transferring, USC/UC’s still check high school grades right? Which kind of sucks in my case because I have a few low scores. Will it really hinder my chances?

bump~~~~ !

Best thing to do is check USC’s articulation agreement with SMC. Go to https://camel.usc.edu/articagrmt/artic.aspx</a>
And select SMC to see what classes you have fulfilled. It also shows the list of classes that transfer over as well.

SMC is known for sending many transfers to ucla/usc.

im currently attending SMC also
I found out with UC’s if you completed the TAP program via the scholars program,
you have an extremely high chance of getting into UCLA
for USC, admission rate is much more difficult
i think business transfer are like 25%?
plus, because of the lesser requirements for transfer
students usually transfer within one year or so
so yeah good luck!

Try some of the other UC’s. UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, UC Davis, and of course UC Berkeley are all very good schools (great in Berkeley’s case). If you’re willing to leave SoCal, UC Davis can actually give you a really good education. UCSB and UCSD are also pretty good for any science major. The Claremont Schools could also give you some interesting opportunities.
