Smeal School of Business

Tell me everything you know about the business school(preferably people in it). Is it hard to get a job? Do a lot of companies recruit there? List the good and the bad of the program. Also, does anyone know the employment statistics for undergrads? The Smeal site really tells me nothing about the undergrad program.

Thanks guys.

Bump..looking for any info at all.

im interested in this too
BUMPPPPPPPPPP

BuMPx4 :)

woo

It's old, but I'm bumpin this. I really need to know more about Smeal. (debating Penn State and Maryland)

lol, hotctyplaya, i'm debating the same two schools..i'd like to know, too!! :) thanks.

me too coupled with wisconsin(only if i get in) :D

haha..maybe i'll see you all at one of those schools..but i think maryland is my top choice by far. it would be interesting to meet some of the ppl from college confidential at umd lol

can anyone tell me when the next visitation date is for the sapphire program?? I was scheduled to visit on the 31st and couldn't make it. I have emailed someone for the answer but I need it quick.

Thanks.

in 81, my dad got recruited at ibm finance major,

of course he had a high gpa, 3.8 ish,

excellent job

sister says they have good job fairs too (shes a jr now , accting)

What are the chances of transferring to Smeal as a sophomore?

if your already at university park then finance you need 3.3 , i beleive accting is 3.2, not sure.

if your somewhere else, no shot, they dont accept buisness transfers..

you can do econ in the lib arts college though

Thanks melon390. I know someone at UP who started last summer and wants to transfer into accounting. I'm pretty sure he has >3.2, but has a withdrawl on his record. Would that be a problem?

Smeal seems to be a very very good business school on the rise. They have the newest and largest building on the campus. They were just ranked #20 in us news. Each program is more and more competitive and you need at least a 3.3 just to get into the finance major.

What struck me most about the business school was job placement. It was extremely impressive. They have a huge career fair and the biggest dues paying alumni group in the country.

PSU business seems like its very good at helping students get a job. Which in the end, is really important.

too bad its financial aid sucks...

again :D, i know some people are in sapphire,
can anyone tell me when the next visitation date is for the sapphire program?? I was scheduled to visit on the 31st and couldn't make it. I have emailed someone for the answer but I need it quick.

Thanks. :D

in addition to harmon, 1 out of 100 people as penn state graduates. My dad recruited an average person for IBM out of smeal, had a 3.6 in finance(lil betta then avg) i believe, over people from nyu and wharton. ......MOst big companies in the east have atleast a couple of psu people. MY dads department of 10 peoplle in upstate ny has 3 grads

the next visitation date for sapphire is 10th april.

thank you. oh man, i need to figure something out quick. Just to clarify, that is also the last correct?

i think there's another one after that....either 22nd or 24th April...can't remember.
