SMG Honors vs. NYU Stern

Hi everyone,

It has pretty much come down to these two colleges for me. I want to study finance and international business, and while Stern is reportedly better for these programs, I’m not too familiar with the Honors program at BU. I guess most important to me are academics and finding a job during/after college. BU has the added benefit of a $10k scholarship, but cost isn’t really a huge factor in my decision.

Can you guys highlight some of the differences in these two programs?

Thanks!

Stern..cause it's better.

how is BU's SMG overall? Is it well regarded among the business/finance community and is it good with job placement?

Stern all the way. There's no comparison in job placement.

yeah I have a friend who goes to stern, only a freshman, but claims they are recruited high 90s to six digits right out of school. BU's SMG isn't bad by any means, but Stern and Wharton are among the absolute elite

Stern......stern! That said, BU SMG is still an excellent alternative.

wow, wasn't expecting such a one sided response.. especially in the BU forum!

Does anyone know if the honors program is any competition for stern? If not, I guess I have my choice :P

People are heavily sided with NYU for one main reason; it is one of the best...

It is hard to imagine a b-school located in the financial capital of the world to not be good... the opportunities are endless and while I'm told SMG is excellent, very few b-schools compare to NYU Stern.

Even if the schools were dead even, you'd be in downtown NYC and you're interested in finance. That's like being interested in alligators and going to LSU.
